Tomorrow we celebrate the beginning of the school year, and registration for Sunday School, with the Blessing of Backpacks. Blessing of Backpacks is a blast, don’t forget to bring in your backpacks (or your children with their backpacks!).
After church, we will celebrate another month of HOT DOG SEASON! We will have hot dogs, burgers, BBQ pulled pork, and a one day only repeat of the ARTS JAM visual arts gallery in the Parish Hall. Most importantly, we have real hot mustard in addition to the normal yellow mustard. Real mustard!
Also, we will have about 10 heirloom tomatoes for sale from the church Vegetable Garden. We have three varieties of heirloom: Lemon Boy, Cherokee Purple, and Black Crim. Heirloom tomatoes usually sell for $5 a pound, so our usual donation of a dollar may be increased on some of the items. One of the tomatoes (the big one at the center bottom, of the picture) weighed in at 1 pound, 10 ounces. Oh, and by the way, they are absolutely delicious! All proceeds from the Vegetable Garden sales go to the Outreach Fund. We have made about $100 already from the garden this year. Buy a tomato, and help grow our outreach fund!
