The Outreach Committee is the central hub off of which all of Good Shepherd’s Outreach projects extend (like spokes on a wheel). The Committee meets several times each year to discuss and plan upcoming events and projects. All are welcome to join the Committee; just come to the meeting!
Our parish-wide local focus is our partnership with the Community Center of Northern Westchester and the Putnam/Northern Westchester Women’s Resource Center. In addition, we support several other local Outreach offerings, including Episcopal Charities, and we offer our space for a variety of outside groups and uses. During the pandemic, we launched a new food ministry which has continued to blossom. We provide brown bag lunches for the food pantries at the Community Center of Northern Westchester and St. Mary’s Mohegan Lake. In addition, twice a month we cook hot meals for the people at Jan Peek Shelter in Peekskill.
Our parish-wide domestic focus is the Episcopal Relief & Development US Disaster Program. We also fielded a Relay for Life team for several years in support of the American Cancer Society.
Internationally, we support and have a missioner for the American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem.
