This Saturday, November 17, is Diocesan Convention. Wilfried Haensch (del), Phil Levy (alt), Deacon Normal Fulton, and Father Matt are going. The Convention was postponed from earlier in the month. It will be held at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine.
This weekend, November 17-18 is “Covenant Weekend”. Our 24 hour prayer vigil will begin at 8AM on Saturday, November 17. The church will be open, heated, and someone will be praying throughout the 24 hour vigil. Every hour has been signed up for. There will be reading resources available in the church, and of course you are welcome to bring your own book or pray in silence. On Sunday we will bless pledge cards (you should recieve them in today’s mail). Please pray over what you plan to pledge for 2013, sign your pledge card, and bring it in on Sunday (you can also mail it in or bring it to the church at any time). After the 10AM service we will have a festive brunch in the parish hall!
This Sunday is also “Harvest Sunday” when we gather food and supplies for the Community Center of Northern Westchester. Since we gather these supplies every Sunday, you might wonder what is so special about Harvest Sunday. On Harvest Sunday we ask everyone who is able to bring in supplies, so that our donation is larger than usual. Below are two lists of supplies/food. The first is the regular suggestion asked for by the CCNW. The second is a special list of holiday suggestions asked for by the CCNW. Anything you can donate is appreciated

On Tuesday, November 20, at7:30 PM we will celebrate the Yorktown Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service at Saint Mary’s Mohegan Lake. Every year the ecumenical group of churches, synagogues and mosques gathers for a Thanksgiving service. We will pray together and thanks God for all of our blessings. Its a special service and a great treat to see all of our religious groups in one place. Father Matt will take part in this service which is being hosted by Saint Mary’s Mohegan Lake.
On Thursday, November 22, at 10AM we will celebrate Thanksgiving Day Sung Eucharist at Good Shepherd. Get out of the house and come to church for less than an hour to give thanks to God for all the blessings he has given you, and celebrate the Great Thanksgiving! We also get to sing some classic Harvest hymns that day that we don’t sing the rest of the year!
Shephers’s Voice Newsletter – we have decided to cancel the November SV newsletter, since the month is half over. It was delayed in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, and it seems best at this point to simply look ahead to December. If you have any articles for December, please get them the rector by the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
