Dear Members of the Council,
On behalf of the Hudson Valley Islamic Community Center (HVICC), I would like to
invite you, your organization’s leadership, and any of your members who may be
interested, to attend our annual Community/Interfaith Unity Iftar (fast-breaking) this
Thursday, June 23 at 7:30pm (sharp) to approximately 9:30pm. We are anticipating
police, fire, political, religious and local leaders will be joining us in the community
building and unifying event.
The agenda includes a brief introduction to the center including a short tour, a
discussion about the month of Ramadan and the role of the Muslim community center in
our broader community, participating (or observing) in the breaking of the Ramadan fast
for the evening, participating/observing the prayer services, and joining us for a hearty
dinner along with your American Muslim neighbors.
We welcome you to break bread with us in a casual, comfortable and spiritual
environment. After dinner we feature Arabic recitation from our holy scriptures, followed
by a spiritual lesson, and concluding with late-night prayers. While these are not
officially part of the program, you are welcome to stay as long as you like.
