This Saturday, September 27, I am preaching at the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine for the ordinations of new priests. The service begins at 10:30 AM. All are invited! After the service is over anyone who has attended is welcome to join me for lunch and/or a trip to Captain Lawrence Brewery (I need to pick up the keg for Oktoberfest – we are getting Captain Lawrence India Pale Ale, and we will also have growlers of Pumpkin Ale).
On Sunday we will have our regular Sunday service. Our EfM group is on retreat that Sunday, please keep them in your prayers.
On Monday, September 29, we celebrate Michaelmas & Oktoberfest. The Holy Eucharist begins at 6PM. We are having Sung Mass with LOTS of great angelic hymns. Our preacher that night is the Venerable William Parnell, Archdeacon for the Diocese of New York. The service is followed by our annual Oktoberfest. We are having roast pork and smoked sausages. Beer, soda, water, and coffee are provided. Our annual commemorative Michaelmas Stein is on sale now (and will be on sale through Michaelmas). 2 Steins are $25, and the proceeds from Stein Sales pay for the Steins, the Beer, and the Sausages. Please make all checks for steins payable to the Church of the Good Shepherd, with a memo for “Fellowship Fund”, “Michaelmas” or “Steins”.
Michaelmas is one of our MAJOR FOOD COLLECTION DAYS. Please remember to bring in food and supplies for the Community Center of Northern Westchester.
