This weekend we celebrate Holy Cross Day!
Saturday, September 13
On Saturday at 5PM we will gather together for Evensong for the Eve of Holy Cross Day. Evensong is a short service (about 25 minutes) that includes scripture, psalms, hymns, and prayers.
After the service we will celebrate our annual Chickenfest! We will fire up the grill after Evensong (if it rains we will use the stove and oven) and cook wings, thighs, drumsticks, and chicken breasts (provided by the Fellowship Fund)! We will also provide blue cheese dip and hot sauce for wings. Soda, Water, and Beer (Indaba Ale from Captain Lawrence) will be provided as well. Other chicken dishes, wine, appetizers , sides, and desserts are potluck.
As a special treat we will watch all three original Wallace and Grommit Shorts on the Jumbotron. These shorts are a half hour each, and they are really, really funny. Come to Evensong & Chickenfest! We start at 5PM!!!
Sunday, September 14
Holy Cross Day is celebrated every year on September 14. Our regular services will be offered: 7:40 AM Morning Prayer); 8AM Said Eucharist; 10AM Sung Eucharist. The readings and hymns are all about the Cross of Jesus. The hymns for Holy Cross Day are excellent!
This Sunday is also the first week of Sunday School classes. Sunday School begins at 10AM with the children’s service in the Parish Hall. The children will then break into our three classes. Sunday School ends around 10:45 and all of the children and teachers come to church for Holy Communion. Childcare for the youngest children is offered in the Nursery.
After church and Coffee Hour, the Youth Group is going to Lasdon Park for a hike and picnic.
