Saturday & Sunday Evening Service Schedule

Dear Friends,

Beginning Saturday, June 1, we will offer a 5PM Said Eucharist on Saturdays.  The Saturday 5PM Eucharist is intended to be an alternative to Sunday morning Eucharist.  When the rector is away or unavailable this service will be Evening Prayer.  This service will effectively replace the current Sunday 5PM Evening Prayer service, which has been offered on a trial basis for a year and a half.  The final Sunday Evening Prayer service will be this Sunday, May 26, at 5pm.  Beginning Sunday, June 2, no service will be offered on Sunday evenings.

The Saturday, 5PM Eucharist, will feel like this:

  • 30 minutes long
  • A printed bulletin like Sunday Morning
  • Readings will be the same as the readings at Sunday morning Eucharist
  • Sermon – same topic as Sunday morning sermon
  • Nicene Creed, Prayers, Confession
  • The Peace
  • 1 classic hymn (accompanied on our digital piano) at the offertory
  • Holy Communion
  • A brief fellowship opportunity will be offered afterwards (wine & lemonade)- the 5PM congregation will eventually decide to turn this into wine & cheese / lemonade & cookies / potluck dinner / etc.

When the Saturday 5PM service is Evening Prayer, it will feel like this:

  • 25 minutes long
  • A printed bulletin like Sunday Morning
  • Readings will be the same as the readings at Sunday morning Eucharist
  • No Sermon
  • Evening Prayer Canticles, Apostles Creed, Prayers, Intercessions, General Thanksgiving
  • 1 classic hymn (accompanied on our digital piano) at the offering
  • Dismissal
  • A brief fellowship opportunity will be offered afterwards (wine & lemonade) – the 5PM congregation will eventually decide to turn this into wine & cheese / lemonade & cookies / potluck dinner / etc.
  • If you are interested in leading Evening Prayer in July, please let the rector know.  There will be a bulletin which makes it easy to lead.
