Dear Members of the Council,
\nOn behalf of the Hudson Valley Islamic Community Center (HVICC), I would like to
\ninvite you, your organization\u2019s leadership, and any of your members who may be
\ninterested, to attend our annual Community\/Interfaith Unity Iftar (fast-breaking) this
\nThursday, June 23 at 7:30pm (sharp) to approximately 9:30pm. We are anticipating
\npolice, fire, political, religious and local leaders will be joining us in the community
\nbuilding and unifying event.
\nThe agenda includes a brief introduction to the center including a short tour, a
\ndiscussion about the month of Ramadan and the role of the Muslim community center in
\nour broader community, participating (or observing) in the breaking of the Ramadan fast
\nfor the evening, participating\/observing the prayer services, and joining us for a hearty
\ndinner along with your American Muslim neighbors.
\nWe welcome you to break bread with us in a casual, comfortable and spiritual
\nenvironment. After dinner we feature Arabic recitation from our holy scriptures, followed
\nby a spiritual lesson, and concluding with late-night prayers. While these are not
\nofficially part of the program, you are welcome to stay as long as you like.
