Directed and co-written by Spike Lee, the film stars Denzel<br \/>\nWashington and Angela Bassett and dramatizes key events in Malcolm&#8217;s life,<br \/>\nincluding his incarceration, conversion to Islam, and ministry as a member<br \/>\nof the Nation of Islam. It is based largely on Alex Haley&#8217;s 1965 book,<br \/>\n\u201cThe Autobiography of Malcolm X,\u201d a book Haley collaborated on with<br \/>\nMalcolm beginning in 1963 and completing it after Malcolm\u2019s passing on<br \/>\nFebruary 21, 1965.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGuess Who\u2019s Coming to Dinner\u201d<br \/>\nwith Sidney Poitier, Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy<br \/>\nSunday Afternoon, February 28th at 2 PM<\/p>\n<p>The 1967 film is about an older white couple (Katherine Hepburn and<br \/>\nSpencer Tracy) whose attitudes are challenged when their daughter<br \/>\nintroduces them to her African-American fianc\u00e9 (Sidney Poitier). The film<br \/>\ncontains a then rare positive representation of the subject of interracial<br \/>\nmarriage, which was still illegal in 17 (mostly Southern states) when the<br \/>\nfilm was released. \u201cGuess Who\u2019s Coming to Dinner\u201d  &#8211; still a thought<br \/>\nprovoking film &#8211; won two Academy Awards and was a box-office hit<br \/>\nthroughout the nation &#8211; including the Southern states.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the Diocese: All Souls\u2019 Church &#8211;
