{"id":4296,"date":"2015-05-16T10:32:58","date_gmt":"2015-05-16T14:32:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/goodshepherdny.org\/?p=4296"},"modified":"2015-05-16T10:32:58","modified_gmt":"2015-05-16T14:32:58","slug":"steven-williams-burial-office-today-at-11am","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/goodshepherdny.org\/?p=4296","title":{"rendered":"Steven Williams Burial Office today at 11AM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>In the Episcopal Church the liturgy for the dead is an Easter liturgy.\u00a0 It finds all its meaning in the resurrection.\u00a0 Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we, too, shall be raised.\u00a0 This joy, however, does not make human grief unchristian.\u00a0 The very love we have for each other in Christ brings deep sorrow when we are parted by death.\u00a0 Jesus himself wept at the grave of his friend.\u00a0 So, while we rejoice that the one we love has entered into the nearer presence of our Lord, we sorrow in sympathy with those who mourn.\u00a0 The liturgy is also an expression of our belief that nothing can separate us from each other in Christ.\u00a0 We still love, care and pray for those who have died, and we believe they still love, care and pray for us.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Burial service will be offered today at 11AM. \u00a0The service will be followed by a reception. \u00a0Your prayers and presence are requested.<\/p>\n<p>A<em>lmighty God, with whom still live the spirits of those who die in the Lord, and with whom the souls of the faithful are in joy and felicity: We give you heartfelt thanks for the good examples of all your servants, who, having finished their course in faith, now find rest and refreshment. May we, with all who have died in the true faith of your holy Name, have perfect fulfillment and bliss in your eternal and everlasting glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
