{"id":3749,"date":"2015-02-12T17:53:52","date_gmt":"2015-02-12T22:53:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/goodshepherdny.org\/?p=3749"},"modified":"2015-03-13T11:08:27","modified_gmt":"2015-03-13T15:08:27","slug":"christian-ed-intro-to-christology-in-the-gospels-sunday-at-9am","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/goodshepherdny.org\/?p=3749","title":{"rendered":"Christian Ed: Intro to Christology in the Gospels &#8211; Sunday at 9AM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cWho do people say that I am?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This question asked by Jesus to his disciples evoked a variety of answers at the time, and many more in the years since Jesus lived, died and rose from the dead.<\/p>\n<p>For those interested in learning more about Jesus, I am offering a class on Christology in the Gospels. \u00a0Christology is the study of who Jesus is. \u00a0New Testament scholar Raymond Brown write that \u201cchristology discusses any evaluation of Jesus in respect to who he is and the role he played in the divine plan.\u201d \u00a0The class will meet on <strong>Sunday, February\u00a015, at 9am<\/strong>, and will last for about 45 minutes. \u00a0It will be an introductory class.<\/p>\n<p>If you are interested in learning more and going into significantly greater depth on the topic of Christology, I strongly recommend Raymond Brown\u2019s short book (about 200 pages), \u201cAn Introduction to New Testament Christology. \u00a0Father Brown explores\u00a0Christology throughout the entire New Testament (our class will focus on the Gospels). This is a good book to read during Lent. \u00a0\u00a0It is a worthwhile read for any adult Christian who is interested in learning more about what the Scriptures say about Jesus and how\u00a0the early church understood Jesus. \u00a0The book is available on amazon for about $11.00. \u00a0<a
