Grant that we may not rest until all the people of this land share the benefits of true freedom and gladly accept its disciplines. This we ask in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.<\/p>\n<p>Almighty God, we commend to your gracious care and keeping all the men and women of our armed forces at home and abroad. Defend them day by day with your heavenly grace; strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.<\/p>\n<p>Governor of Nations, our Strength and Shield:<br \/>\nwe give you thanks for the devotion and courage<br \/>\nof all those who have offered military service for this country:<\/p>\n<p>For those who have fought for freedom;<br \/>\nfor those who laid down their lives for others;<br \/>\nfor those who have borne suffering of mind or of body;<br \/>\nfor those who have brought their best gifts to times of need.<\/p>\n<p>On our behalf they have entered into danger,<br \/>\nendured separation from those they love,<br \/>\nlabored long hours, and borne hardship in war and in peacetime.<\/p>\n<p>Lift up by your mighty Presence those who are now at war;<br \/>\nencourage and heal those in hospitals or mending their wounds at home;<br \/>\nguard those in any need or trouble;<br \/>\nhold safely in your hands all military families;<br \/>\nand bring the returning troops to joyful reunion and tranquil life at home;<\/p>\n<p>Give to us, your people, grateful hearts<br \/>\nand a united will to honor these men and women<br \/>\nand hold them always in our love and our prayers;<br \/>\nuntil your world is perfected in peace through Jesus Christ our Savior.
