We are having a fun day out fishing\/swimming\/hiking\/eating\/lazing (whatever works for you!) at FDR Park on Saturday, August 3rd. <\/strong><\/p>\n

We have reserved a section at the Park for the COGS with picnic tables and grilling facilities, with its own parking area. The section is Parking 1A<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We are buying the burgers, dogs, chicken, etc.. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Directions<\/strong><\/p>\n

The most convenient access to the Park for where we will be located is from the Taconic Parkway – take the exit for the FDR Park – follow the road and bear left when it splits.<\/p>\n

We will be cooking burgers and dogs, providing disposable plates and silverware, cups etc. We do ask that you bring a side dish for the group if you can and your own beverages.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We aim to arrive at around 10.30AM but feel free to drop by when it suits you, of course.<\/p>\n

Fees<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

The cost to park a vehicle is $8, unless you already have an annual pass.<\/p>\n

There is a minimal fee for swimming. There are lots of other activities, of course, many of which are free.<\/p>\n

Fishing<\/strong><\/p>\n

Here is some needed info on fishing, which requires a little advance preparation.<\/p>\n

The cost for a boat rental for fishing is $7 per hour, I believe, with a returnable deposit of $30 per boat – CASH ONLY.<\/p>\n

I am told you can also fish from the edge of the same Mohansic Lake, so do not absolutely need a boat – but perhaps you enjoy the extra challenge!<\/p>\n

PLEASE NOTE – if you wish to fish you need a fishing license<\/strong> if age 16 or over.<\/strong><\/p>\n

You can obtain a license online for $5 for the day or get one in advance at Yorktown Town Hall or Bob’s Tackle shop ( see below ).<\/p>\n

You do NOT need a separate Reservoir Access Permit for fishing in the State Park.<\/p>\n

Fishing Equipment & Bait<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Park does NOT have equipment rentals NOR does it have bait. You need to bring those\/go digging for worms in the Park if you have the inclination!<\/p>\n

Bob’s tackle shop is a good bet for bait and tackle and you can buy a rod and reel fairly inexpensively at KMART\/TARGET, of course. Bob’s store can process your license also, I think – just check ahead.<\/p>\n
