In addition to his work at Good Shepherd, Father Matt also took an active role serving on several committees in the Episcopal Diocese of New York: Chair of the Budget & Finance Committee, Dean of the Sawmill Clericus, Alternate Deputy to General Convention, the Committee To Elect A Bishop, Diocesan Council, the Congregational Support Plan Committee, and the Diocese of New York Ecumenical & Interfaith Commission.  Father Matt occasionally posted to a blog:

Father Matt graduated from the University of Chicago in 1998, with a Bachelors in Philosophy. He graduated magna cum laude from Yale University in 2004 with a Masters in Divinity with a certificate in Anglican Studies from the Berkeley Divinity School.  He was ordained in the Diocese of New York in 2004.  Before being called as the Seventh Rector of Good Shepherd, Father Matt served as Curate for liturgy and education at the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, Times Square, from 2004 until 2009.
