CCNW – Food Pantry & Center

Good Shepherd is one of 31 civic, educational and religious organizations that sponsor the Community Center of Northern Westchester. The Center’s sponsoring organizations each hold one seat as a Community Partner, and solicit donations of money, food, clothing, school supplies and holiday gifts.

The Katonah Food Pantry at the Community Center of Northern Westchester provides supplemental food and clothing to all who need it. The Center also offers employment counseling and classes, and refers those in need to appropriate resources. The Center continually identifies and assesses the changing needs and resources of the community, modifying its programs accordingly to meet the needs of its clients in the best possible ways.

As part of its partnership with the Center, the Church of the Good Shepherd supports the Food Pantry by collecting supplies and food. In 2010 we collected over 250 pounds of food and supplies. In 2011 we collected over 1000 pounds. In 2012 we collected over 1300 pounds of food and supplies.   Our total contributions for 2013 were: 2002.6 pounds of food, 8.9 pounds of prom clothing, 43.4 pounds of sleepwear, 71.3 pounds of school supplies, and 100 reusable shopping bags!

A large basket for food and supplies is located in the narthex at the back of the church, just inside the main doors. When it is filled at the end of each month it is brought to the Food Pantry by a volunteer from the parish. We organize special food collections when we celebrate many of our Holy Days throughout the year.
