Happy Labor Day weekend!

Hi everyone,
We hope you have had a chance to rest and refresh this summer. At Good Shepherd, we’re getting ready to welcome everyone back and kick off the new Program Year, next Sunday, September 9 (see below for details). But before that, here’s what’s coming up this week:

Sunday, September 2
8:00 am Said Eucharist – Rite I
9:00 am Middle School Youth Committee meeting
10:00 am Said Eucharist with Hymns – Rite II
Final Craft Sunday of the summer – meet in the Parish Hall, and return to church for Communion
Healing prayers are offered after the 10:00 am service. Just come up to the Communion Rail.

11:30 am Parish Peach Picking at Stuarts Farm!
After coffee hour this Sunday, we will head up the road to Stuarts Farm to pick our own peaches! All are welcome.

Check the Breezeway bulletin boards for the latest signup sheets for events, trips, flower dedications, etc.

Sunday, September 9
2018-2019 Program Year Kick Off!
The day includes the blessing of backpacks, Grandparents’ Day recognition, Sunday School registration, and a fabulous parish BBQ after the 10:00 am service – with Rita’s Ice for dessert! Check out the signup sheet posted in the Breezeway, then plan to join us.

It’s also a great day to invite friends to check out Good Shepherd, because we will be highlighting our many ministries and encouraging people to learn more and join. Ministry leaders: feel free to bring materials to promote your ministry. It’s going to be a great day!

Request from Deacon Norm
On October 13th, we will have our Fall Festival, including the Arts Jam highlighted with music by local musicians, followed by Animal Yoga for kids, and Adopt A Pet. The day will close with a Fashion Show. We’d love for you to participate! Here’s how:
1. Kohl’s in Bedford is providing the clothes and the announcer for the Fashion Show. If you have a child who would like to model, we need to know, male or female and their sizes. All models get to keep the clothes they model. Please send the information to RSVP@goodshepherdny.org.
2. If someone in your family would like to play an instrument or read a poem or sing in the Arts Jam, send an email to RSVP@goodshepherdny.org.
Please send us the needed information as quickly as possible. Many thanks for your support.

A Collect for Labor Day
Almighty God, you have so linked our lives one with another that all we do affects, for good or ill, all other lives: So guide us in the work we do, that we may do it not for self alone, but for the common good; and, as we seek a proper return for our own labor, make us mindful of the rightful aspirations of other workers, and arouse our concern for those who are out of work; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
